DEPARTMENT OF BIBLE

BI-101 OLD TESTAMENT SURVEY 3 hrs

A foundational study of the Old Testament. The purpose, distictives, characteristics and broad outline of each book are presented to give a grasp of the entire Old Testament.

BI-102 NEW TESTAMENT SURVEY 3 hrs

A foundational study of the New Testament. The purpose, distictives, characteristics and broad outline of each book are presented to give a grasp of the entire New Testament.

BI-112 SOULWINNING AND EVANGELISM 2 hrs

A practical study in the theology and practice of giving the gospel to the lost. Special attention is given to verses used in the presentation of the gospel.

BI-113 PRAYER 2 hrs

A study in the theology and practice of prayer as seen in the Bible.

BI-130 HERMENEUTICS 3 hrs

A study in the methods of Biblical interpretation. Special sttention is given to the study of dispensations, covenants and numbers in the scriptures.

BI-220 CHARACTER 2 hrs

A study into biblical character traits for Christians.

BI-241 THE PENTETEUCH 3 hrs

This course is designed to acquaint the student with the first five books of the Old Testament, giving an overview of God’s working among man from creation to Israel’s deliverance from Egypt.

BI-243 MANNERS AND CUSTOMS OF THE BIBLE I 2 hrs

This course provides insight into the many customs behind Bible passages. It is very important that the student understand the manners and customs of Bible lands. This course will open the Scriptures to the student in a new way. This course covers the Old Testament.

BI-244 MANNERS AND CUSTOMS OF THE BIBLE II 2 hrs

This course provides insight into the many customs behind Bible passages. It is very important that the student understand the manners and customs of Bible lands. This course will open the Scriptures to the student in a new way. This course covers the New Testament.

BI-245 LIFE OF PAUL 2 hrs

This course is designed to portray the life of the Apostle Paul. The student will study his background, his missionary journeys as well as his writings.

BI-246 THE GOSPELS 2 hrs

The student is given an overview of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John in relation to the author, the central theme of each book, and the teaching and miracles of Christ.

BI-247 ISAIAH 2 hrs

An in-depth study of Isaiah is presented. Isaiah has been called the Gospel of the Old Testament. Also, a practical study of the historical setting, the author, his message and the theme of the book is considered.

BI-250 GREEK I 3 hrs

An introduction to the study of New Testament Greek. The student will learn the Greek alphabet and Greek grammar.

BI-251 GREEK II 3 hrs

An continuation of Greek I. During this course the student will translate I John from the Greek into English.

BI-321 THE TABERNACLE 2 hrs

A study of the Old Testament tabernacle in regards to types and foreshadows of Christ, showing great spiritual truths.

BI-330 MINOR PROPHETS 2 hrs

A study of the 12 books of the minor prophets. Attention is given to their message and background.

BI-341 ACTS 2 hrs

The student will study the theme, outline and content of the book of Acts.

BI-342 ROMANS AND CORINTHIANS 2 hrs

The student will study the them, outline and content of Paul’s Epistles to the Romans and Corinthians.

BI-343 GENERAL EPISTLES 2 hrs

A study of James, I and II Peter and Jude. Special attention is given to the occasion of the writing, the development and theme of each book, as well as the message.

BI-345 EPISTLES OF JOHN 2 hrs

A study of I, II, and III John. Special attention is given to the occasion of the writing, the development and the theme of each book, as well as the message.

BI-350 BIBLICAL STANDARDS AND SEPARATION 3 hrs

A study of the doctrine of separation dealing with the biblical basis of standards, personal seperation and ecclesiastical seperation.

BI-355 BIBLICAL EVIDENCE 2 hrs

The student will study the various manuscripts from which the Bible was translated with emphasis on the history of the King James Version of the Bible.

BI-360 BIBLE GEOGRAPHY 2 hrs

A study of the layout of the lands of the Bible. Special attention is given to the locations of major events of the Bible. The purpose of the course is to give the student a better understanding of the geography of the Bible lands and the events that occurred there and how they relate to each other.

BI-410 BIBLE TYPOLOGY 2 hrs

An introductory study to typology and deals with Christ, Calvary, the Resurrection, the Holy Spirit and more.

BI-420 DANIEL AND REVELATION 3 hrs

A practial study of the books of Daniel and Revelation. This study includes the background, the author, his message and theme of the book. Careful attention is given to the historical setting and prophecy.

BI-432 PASTORAL EPISTLES 2 hrs

A study of the epistles written by the Apostle Paul to Timothy and to Titus. This study includes the special instructions given to the local church and the qualifications of its leaders.

DS-110 HOME AND FAMILY 2 hrs

A study into the scriptural basis for the home and Bible principles for raising a family.

DS-111 THE CHRISTIAN LADY 2 hrs

A study into what the Bible says a lady should be.

DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION

ED-220 GENERAL TEACHING METHODS 3 hrs

A practical study into various methods used to present the lesson material to a class. This course also deals with how students learn.

EN-101 ENGLISH GRAMMAR 2 hrs

A study of the parts of speech and the use of the english language.

EN-102 ENGLISH COMPOSITION 2 hrs

A study of the principles of effective composition, with those principles applied in paragraph, essay and term paper writing.

EN-310 PREACHER’S WRITING SEMINAR 2 hrs

A study in the use of printed materials in the ministry. The student will study methods of writing a salvation tract, church tract, church bulletin, newspaper articles, newsletters and booklets.

HI-131 BIOGRAPHIES OF GREAT WOMEN 2 hrs

A study of women used of God in the Old Testament with special attention given to the outstanding characteristics of their lives and well as the examples we can follow.

HI-201 WORLD HISTORY 2 hrs

A study of the history of the world from WWI through the present day.

HI-202 SYNOPSIS OF AMERICAN HISTORY 2 hrs

A study of the founding and growth of America. Special attention is given to the Christian perspective of American History.

HI-410 BAPTIST HISTORY 2 hrs

A study of the history of the Baptist churches from the time of Christ until the present.

DEPARTMENT OF MINISTRY

MI-101 LEADERSHIP SEMINAR I 4 hrs

A practical study in leadership principles as well as the specifics of leading a Christian ministry. Special attention is given to the organizational structure of a local church and the operation of its ministries.

MI-110 BUS MINISTRY 2 hrs

A study into the organization and operation of a church bus ministry. Special attention is given to development of workers and methods used to increase attendance.

MI-111 YOUTH MINISTRY 2 hrs

A study into the philosophy, organization and operation of a church youth ministry. Special attention is given to the involvement of teens in the ministry and helping them to live consistent Christian lives.

MI-112 SUNDAY SCHOOL 2 hrs

A detailed study into the organization and operation of a Sunday school ministry. Special attention is given to the writing of Sunday school lessons as well as the enlistment of workers.

MI-121 DEACONS AND THEIR WORK 2 hrs

A study of the Biblical basis for the office of deacon. This study emphasizes the biblical standards for deacons and the work the Bible assigns to them.

MI-125 CAMP MINISTRY 2 hrs

This course is conducted each summer at Mt. Salem Revival Grounds in West Union, West Virginia. This course involves the student working on the summer staff for six weeks. The student will be involved in the operation of a camp ministry.

MI-201 LEADERSHIP SEMINAR II 4 hrs

A continuing study in leadership principles as well as the specifics of leading a Christian ministry. Special attention is given to the work of assistants in the ministry and to the relationship of the leader with his staff.

MI-210 REVIVALS 2 hrs

A study of the call and work of an evangelist. Special attention is given to the planning and organization of revivals and conferences.

MI-211 BIBLE TEACHING METHODS 2 hrs

A practical study into the methods used in teaching the Bible in a classroom setting. Special attention is given to classroom management.

MI-212 HOMILETICS I 2 hrs

An introduction to the art of preaching. Special attention is given to the call to preach and preparing to preach.

MI-213 HOMILETICS II 2 hrs

This is an advanced course in homiletics. It is designed to aid the student in sermon preparation and presentation.

MI-221 MUSIC AND THE SOULWINNING CHURCH 2 hrs

A study of the work of a music director in a local church. This course also deals with the music ministry in a church.

MI-301 LEADERSHIP SEMINAR III 4 hrs

A continuing study in leadership principles as well as the specifics of leading a Christian ministry.

MI-320 INTRODUCTION TO MISSIONS 2 hrs

An introductory course to missions in the local church. Special attention given to the history of modern missions.

MI-401 LEADERSHIP SEMINAR IV 4 hrs

A continuing study in leadership principles as well as the specifics of leading a Christian ministry.

MI-410 STARTING A NEW TESTAMENT CHURCH 2 hrs

A practical course in the founding of a New Testament church. Special attention is given to choosing a location, finding a building, your first service, chartering the church, etc.

MI-420 STEWARDSHIP AND FINANCE 2 hrs

This course is designed to help the student understand the Biblical principles of finances.

DEPARTMENT OF THEOLOGY

TH-101 INTRODUCTION TO BAPTIST DOCTRINE 2 hrs

An introductory study into the doctrines taught in Baptist churches.

TH-102 INTRODUCTION TO BAPTIST DOCTRINE (Spanish) 2 hrs

An introductory study into the doctrines taught in Baptist churches. This course is available in Spanish and must have the direction of a local Spanish speaking pastor or missionary.

TH-110 BASIC BAPTIST DOCTRINE 3 hrs

This course will lead the student to study the vital doctrines of the Baptist faith. Some of the
subjects that you will study are: the nature of of a church, qualifications for church membership, the Authority of Pastors, what Baptists believe, the Baptist name, Baptist cooperation, and many more.

TH-241 BIBLE DOCTRINES I 4 hrs

A study of the major doctrines of the Bible. Doctrines covered in this course are: Theology, Christology, and Pneumetology.

TH-242 BIBLE DOCTRINES II 4 hrs

A continuation study of the major doctrines of the Bible. Doctrines covered in this course are:
